Recap: AT&T Create-a-thon in San Francisco featuring a short thriller that will make you think

Author: Ben Nelson

On the weekend of March 3rd through the 5th, we traveled south to San Francisco to host our first ever AT&T Create-a-thon event (learn more about Create-a-thons here). We had a great response from the local community: 60 attendees formed 12 teams who managed to produce six completed films.

I’d like to thank the Workshop Cafe for hosting us at their downtown San Francisco venue. Their space offered a unique aspect to the event and provided teams with a comfortable workspace in which to complete their final editing.

Our overall winner was team Make Video Great Again with its short thriller named Whiteout that was a social commentary on racism and diversity.

Another interesting short film was Escapism, which arrived shortly after the deadline for films, but was an extremely well done commentary on suburban life. The film featured music produced by one of the team members and was shot by a first time filmmaker!
